Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) with High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology and AI algorithm

This case study details the use of High Dynamic Range Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR-HDR) combined with AI to provide high-resolution subsurface mapping for NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. in Tel Aviv. The challenge was to accurately locate unknown or uncertain underground utilities and, critically, the external walls of an underground structure necessary for planning a new Metro station. Using the MALA MIRA HDR system and proprietary software, MAYA collected high-resolution GPR data across 500 square meters in approximately one hour. The outcome was a detailed 3D map that successfully revealed and verified both known and unknown utilities, identified the precise location and depth of the required wall structure (from 1m to 6m deep), and even uncovered an internal retaining wall, which was crucial for the continued planning process.
